Pacifica Bath & Body Review

I don't know about you guys, but I'm quite horrible when it comes to moisturizing, or using most kind of body products. Y'know the basics to maintaining nice soft skin? Which is ironic since I spent almost 2 years working inside a Bath and Body Works! That's why I adore products that have amazing scents to them (my skin has never seen a time as great as when I worked at BBW). I find that a great scent is really motivating when it comes to what products I will use because it'll not only let me skip the perfume step, but it makes the whole routine of it quite enjoyable. And when it comes to fantastic scents, you really can't go wrong with Pacifica Beauty Products.

Pacifica was founded by Brooke Harvey Taylor, who has always loved a world of scent. As a child she was fascinated by the different spices used in cooking and the aromas that they created. That fascination grew into creating sophisticated, enlivening fragrances, like you will find in the Pacifica Beauty line. And the great thing about Pacifica is that there are no phthalates, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, benzene, GMO’s, mineral oil, or triclosan--so its pretty much friendly to all skin types. Pacifica also follows a strict no animal testing policy (yay for the animals!).

When I received my box from I was almost overwhelmed by the amount of items in it to try! The Blood Orange became my instant favorite and I couldn't wait to start using it on a daily basis. Pacifica included a number of items that pretty much would cover my body beauty needs from head to toe!

Coconut Nectar & Blood Orange - $9.00

It almost feels wrong to start of this review post with my least favorite of all the products, but I like to end things on a positive note (which you will see below). I felt out of everything I received the Natural Lip Tints fell a bit short in the scent area - which is the key to all things Pacifica really!

When you first uncap the tint you are immediately hit with this amazing scent. Again, the Blood Orange was indeed my favorite of the two. Its such a nice, fresh, invigorating scent, I don't see how you could possible go wrong with it. Coconut nectar is a bit sweeter, very coconut-y, but without being too heavy. You can't really detect the nectar part as much, but I believe that's what counters the coconut half from being too overwhelming. Its BF's favorite over the Blood Orange.

Unfortunately, once you put the product on your lips, you lose that great scent that hit you initially, and the balminess of the lip base takes over. The product itself moisturizes well and adds a nice hint of color to your lips, but the balm smell does bother me a bit after a while. I also wish the container itself was a bit smaller. When I put the product on my lips I feel like I'm painting my face! At $9 a pop, this one is a definite pass for me.

Ugh, this stuff smells fantastic. It really hits you with this sort of "omg, I want cupcakes" kind of feeling when you're using the Coconut Nectar. As far as the body butter goes, its nice and heavy and really sets into the skin. I feel like its almost more of an in between lotion and a body butter (more like a body cream?). But for me when I think body butters, I think of the kind that are so thick they have to be scooped out of container, and wouldn't be able to be squeezed out of a tube. Which is just fine with me, I'm actually not a fan of using lotions that are that heavy and I feel like this is great when I need the high moisturizing properties of a body butter, but still want that lighter touch of a lotion.

Hands down, my favorite. I seriously want the entire line in this scent. From what I've seen from the other Bloom Ambassadors, its almost everyone's favorite - a true hero product. I like to use this scent in the morning since it has a sort of "pick me up" kind of energy to it. Its just a little tangy mixed with a little bit of sweetness and hits this perfect balance that'll make you want to wear this anywhere. Again its more of a cream than a body butter, and its great to use when you're looking for that in between. This one is a highly recommend, even though it is a bit pricey. Its hard to find products that will last beyond the initial application, and Pacifica does a fantastic job at that.

This is another pass for me. The main reason being that I didn't see much of a difference between this and the body butter version. The bronzing is really light, and I'm not sure a heavier application would show up more, but considering the product costs $24, it wouldn't really be worth it if you ended up having to use an entire bottle just to get your legs bronzed! Other than that its great, but its better off used as a moisturizer than anything else.

I'm not a big perfume wearer. I'm a bit prone to headaches and migraines, and really strong scents that you often find in perfumes (and people who haven't showered in a few days) seem to be the biggest cause of them. I much more prefer body sprays since they're often lighter. Needless to say when I saw that I would be testing out a new perfume I was a bit worried. Thankfully, this Island Vanilla perfume gets to be one of my exceptions. Its a great light vanilla scent. Not too sweet, not to heavy. Really perfect for every day use. The roll-on applicator makes it ideal to throw in your purse and carry with you wherever you go. The scent doesn't over power your senses but doesn't fade out quickly either. This was a really good product for me to try out and I'm quite fond of it now.

Overall I really enjoyed the line from Pacifica. I think they really hit it dead-on with most of the smells and I'm really curious now to try out some of the other scents - particular the Hawaiian Ruby Guava! MmMmm.. I already have a fairly big weakness for all things guava tastey, don't see why that wouldn't extend to body care!

For even more tastey fun, head over to Bloom's Facebook page at 10:00 AM or 4:00 PM PST today to join in on their Q&A session.

I sneak out to the garden to see you.. close your eyes, escape this town for a little while

Its beauty week here on just.pandippo. Or I've been so behind on my beauty posts that I've now had to combine them all together and I'm just pretending that I planned this all out like some awesome event. That sounds a lot more well prepared, and it coincides fantastically with my trip to IMATS this weekend.

So yes. I totally planned out beauty week on purpose!

In any case, we're going to kick things off with my second favorite kind of beauty art - make up! (Nail art is actually my first favorite, but I think its because lot easier to do :P).

A good eyeshadow look is difficult to accomplish sometimes when you're monolid. You can't always use the same rules as provided in the tutorials without the fear of looking like a goldfish. Its taken me a few years to master the correct way to do a smokey eye and I'm really still learning every day. Stila shadows have always been one of my favorites because of the quality and color pay off. I already have several of their palettes so I was more than delighted to have an opportunity to create some looks with their newest ones - In the Moment and In The Garden.

And of course I couldn't miss an opportunity to bug Bryant for a photoshoot. Hard to believe he's never done make up shots before! Hope you guys enjoy!

I asked myself, "Where would people never notice a town full of robots?"

Does any one else find this smile kind of creepy?

Its like.. Stepford Wives creepy, but without the perfectly manicured nails and hair. I really liked the movement of the dress in this photo, and well, if you think this face is creepy, you should've seen the others.

Thats what I get for trying to be creative!

Thats more like it. Lets focus on this section of the post instead of the one above, least my creepy Stepford Wife face causes you to runaway from this blog and never return. I would be really sad if that happened!

I really love this dress. It reminds me of the kind of wallpaper you would see in houses from the 70's or something, but with just a touch of neon to it. And of course, who could resist a giant peter pan collar? Not I, that's for sure. Plus, it'll be one of those dresses that I can carry with me into the fall. Throw on a cute little cream colored sweater and you've got instant preppy.

But for now, I'm enjoying my bare arms, the awesome "swish" of the dress, and my creepy Stepford smile.

Oh wait. We were suppose to stop focusing on that...

In any case, I'm headed to LA this weekend. Quite excited as I'll be attending the IMATS in Pasadena. Even more exciting, I'll get to see my best friend. I think its been like 6 months since I saw him last. Don't worry, I didn't forget about my giveaway with RIRE. I'll be back on Monday to announce the winner!

Wait.. what? You didn't enter in yet!??! Well.. hop to it! There's only a day left!

And they're off!

Why, yes, that is a giant horse on the front of my shirt. Thank you so much for asking! But actually thats not a shirt. Its a dress! A body con dress to be exact. You can see a better picture of it here (and by better I mean mobile phone better :P). Who knew I'd actually end up wearing this dress more than once? I'm fairly sure Anna didn't think I would. Actually, I think she was a bit horrified when I told her I bought a giant horse dress to begin with.

But you know what? I love it. I really, really do.

There's just really something fantastic about it. And y'know if you can't wear a giant horse on your outfit at the horse races, I don't know when else you should! Its a shame I didn't get chances to take photos of my outfit at the actual races. The problem with being the person with the camera is that you're more often behind it, than in front of it. Which isn't a bad thing! I love taking photos and what not, but unfortunately it didn't give me a chance to take advantage of the change in sceanery. So guys get stuck with boring backyard photos once again.

But no worries! BFs back from China which means I get to force him to be my photographer soon! w00t!

Oh yes, and if you haven't had a chance to enter in my giveaway for RIRE boutique yet, there's only a few days left! Don't miss out on your chance for some free clothes!!

Isn't the bow on the back like so freaking adorable?

Dollar Days

About two years ago we went to the horse races for the first time and had a blast. Dollar days are a yearly happening at Golden Gate Fields and while we tried to go last year, we just couldn't quite work it into our schedule. But this year lil Miss Anna decided to take matters into her own hand and scheduled an outting.

Its hard to go wrong with Dollar days. Dollar dogs, dollar sodas, dollar beers. Tell you the truth, I think that might be the real reason people show up.

Me? I just like to take any opportunity to soak in the sun. And take pretty pictures.

And to wear really cute floppy hats! That was the real reason. The boys may have come for the dollar beers, but we came to wear cute floppy hats!

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! :)

God knows, we're worth it

There is so much awesome going on in this outfit that I don't even know what to tell you. Its just head to toe awesome. Minus the fact that I'm (yet, again) sick in this photo, I'm pretty much in love with this outfit. I even got boob-stared at by a gay man because of it.

Ok, so maybe he was staring more at my necklace than my boobs, but it was such an obvious stare that it really could've been mistaken as a boob-stare.

So what makes this outfit so spectacular? Well, lets start with the vest. I made it. Well, ok, no. I didn't make it make it--I took an existing vest, emptied our house of bleach and threw in a packet of dye remover and made my very own ombre vest! And considering wanted $50 for one just like it, I'm pretty darn pleased with myself. I tried to look for a thrifted vest, but none of the styles really suited my tastes. I got lucky and found one at Target for less than $15! Add in a dollar or two for the dye removal and I just saved myself $35. /puffed-out-chest-full-of-pride.

Honestly, I'm really surprised at how well it turned out. This was my first attempt and considering how dangerous bleach is, I'm really pleased that this garment is wearable (there may have been an incident when I was younger involving bleach, too much hot water, shred to pieces jeans) and that I managed not to destroy another garment in the proces of making this one!

So the second awesome, would be these shoes, which are ridiculously comfortable and so, so, so cute. I swear they match with everything and more importantly, doesn't make BF wish I hadn't worn heels because I'm complaining about how much they hurt! I'm really sad for Betsey Johnson's bankruptcy! I've really developed a taste for her shoes, which are a lot more affordable (and wearable) than her gorgeous dresses.

The third level of awesome? This dress~ (imagine a high pitched voice singing out here). Its just gorgeous and simple and elegant. It can pretty much be worn with anything and everything, given the beautiful shade of peach. I'm so in love with it. Its a tad big on top, but if I pair it with this vest, you can't even tell. I'll eventually get it altered, but for now I'm happy wearing it as is. I especially love that despite the fact that this is suppose to be a maxi dress, it is seriously the perfect length on me. I can wear it with flats or heels and not have to worry about tripping over the tail. Another great item thanks to!!

That's all for now folks! I think I'll be taking another dive into the bleach + dip-dye effect. I may even do a tutorial for the blog if I think I can handle having a camera in one hand and bleach in the other (imaging BF's look of terror right now).

If you haven't had a chance to enter in my giveaway yet.. the clock's a ticking! :)

Shoe & Closet Challenge: May Saves

Fact: 21 out of 28 of these outfit photos contain a new item. And by new, I don't mean something I bought during the end of last year's summer sale and it's just gotten warm enough to wear. No, I mean, brand spanking I just bought this in the last month new.

Kind of puts into light my spending habits huh? And possible that I need to buy clothes I won't get bored of so quickly? Though I'm not entire sure how that's possible. While I believe every closet should have good high quality staple items, I love ever changing trends too much. I think I just need to be better about assessing when I"m bored of something quicker rather than a year or two later when I can't get rid of it other than to GoodWill.

At least I did better with the shoes! Only two of them are brand new, and one was courtesy of Bakers, and the other was a present (read giftcard) from my manager. But I'm obviously not doing well with the saving part. Almost three months in and I've just barely saved 30 pairs of shoes! I'm honestly surprised and I thought I was a bit more well rounded than this. I actually blame the fact that I've been so tired the thought of trying to walk in heels all day doesn't appeal to me very much. I've been reaching for the chucks or flats almost every morning. I better get my act together soon! Or I'm going to be very sad in 9 months time.

I've got some exciting stuff in stored for you guys! A couple of new stores to review/introduce to you.

Wait for it.

My first sponsored giveaway! /Squee. Stay tuned! You don't want to miss out on this! :)

Shoe & Closet Challenge: March & April Saves

I know what you're thinking. Its June. Why are we talking about March and April? And what happened to May?

Well, don't worry. May is coming tomorrow, but I needed to get through March and April first, and as usual I'm a bit behind. Story of my life! But as long as I'm still walking forward one step at a time, I'm happy to keep on going. Even if I am a little bit behind.

Which won't be for long (hopefully anyways). I was trying to think of the best way to bring up the Shoe and Close challenge without over running the blog with it, and I think monthly summaries are the best way to go. Also puts into scale how much shopping gets done in one month (ahem-yes, I bought 6 pairs of shoes in April-ahem). Since this post is a bit congested with a mass amount of photos, I'll put my thoughts in the next one. These last 3 months have been quite interesting, and very insightful. I'm really glad I decided to take these challenges on, because I think I'm learning a lot about my spending habits and my overall wearing habits.

In any case! Enjoy! And if you want to see a bigger picture of any of the photos you can click on the album in the side menu.

Happy Monday! Hope ya'll had a fantastic weekend.
